  • Upscape is a family-run business, and I (Hayes Bauer) am the founder, but every project is supervised and quality-checked by experienced adults like my dad who ensure the work meets professional standards. I handle design, fixture placement, and layout, while licensed specialists handle the technical work when needed.

  • Yes. Upscape is a fully insured Delaware C Corp, and we carry the proper general liability coverage required for residential outdoor lighting work. We are happy to provide proof of insurance at any time.

  • For low-voltage landscape lighting (12V), an electrician is not required. Upscape specializes exclusively in low-voltage installations, which are safe, efficient, and designed for residential properties.
    If a project requires electrical work beyond low-voltage (e.g., new outdoor outlets), we partner with licensed and insured electricians to handle that portion.

  • Most Upscape projects range from $2,000–$12,000, depending on the size of the property, number of fixtures, and design complexity.
    We provide a clear, itemized estimate following your free design walkthrough, no surprises.

  • Very little. All fixtures we install use high-efficiency LED technology, typically consuming 1–7 watts per fixture. A full property lighting setup often uses less electricity than a single indoor lamp. A typical setup of 10 outdoor lights will consume ~7.2 kWh per month and cost $1-2/month to run.

  • You’ll have multiple options:

    • A simple dusk-to-dawn timer

    • Smart automation (schedules, sunrise/sunset, scenes)

    • Phone control through a smart plug

    We’ll set everything up for you and show you exactly how to use it.

  • Not much. LED fixtures should last 10+ years, and transformers are extremely reliable.
    Occasionally, you may want:

    • Seasonal re-aiming

    • Replacing a fixture that gets damaged

    • Adjusting the design as landscaping grows

    Upscape offers on-demand service as well as ongoing maintenance and tune up programs

  • Not at all. We design lighting to highlight your home, not shine into windows or across property lines. Our fixtures use precise beam angles and shields to ensure beautiful, subtle illumination without glare.

  • Absolutely. Most of our clients start with the front facade or pathways and expand over time.
    Your transformer and wiring will be designed with future additions in mind.

  • Yes—if you want it!
